Your safety is our main concern
We always try to be one step ahead of the competition to keep improving our products, because we attach great importance to the safety of use of all our products. That is why our grasses are free of heavy metals and are completely safe for users.
We have decided to go a step further by carrying out slipperiness tests to see how our lawn responds to the risk of slipping and falling. We tell you everything you need to know about this subject.
Slipperiness of floors regulations
The term Slipperiness was introduced in 2006 in the Technical Building Code (CTE), within the Basic Document on Safety in Use and Accessibility (DB-SUA).
Slipperiness is part of the basic requirement SUA-1: Safety against the risk of falls, which states that “The risk of users suffering falls shall be limited, for which purpose floors shall be adequate to prevent people from slipping, tripping or hindering mobility…”.
In order to limit the risk of slipping, floors are classified according to their Slip ResistanceRd value. This value is determined by the standardized test, where the result will represent the most unfavorable slipperiness conditions.
The classification would be as follows:
In order to be able to apply this classification, the following table indicates which class the soils must have, as a minimum, depending on their location:
This standard applies to the floors of buildings or areas for Public Residential, Health, Educational, Commercial, Administrative and Public Concurrence use, excluding the zero occupancy areas defined in annex SI A of DB SI.
The Albergrass solution
In Albergrass we develop our products adapting them to the European quality standards, as well as to the current regulations, in a constant effort to offer our customers the best artificial grass in the market.
Over the years we have increased the performance of our products to adapt them to the area in which they are to be used, always bearing in mind the safety factor.
Given the chilling statistical data showing the significant impact of slipperiness on hospital-treated injuries, we decided to perform slipperiness tests on our turf.
Always with the objective in mind to be able to offer a specific slipperiness resistance value, especially oriented to professionals who need this data in their projects.
The results of all our tested turfs have been of Class 3 in both wet and dry conditions. This is the highest degree of protection against slipperiness.
Conclusions
The consequences of falls due to slips have a high social and economic impact, so they are more important than one might think.
At Albergrass we are aware of this, which is why safety is one of the main objectives of any product we put on the market. For this reason, we work incessantly in the creation of products that adapt to the established standards.
We are the first artificial turf company that submits its lawns to Slip Resistance tests, as well as other tests that demonstrate their excellent characteristics.
Although the slipperiness tests have given us the safest classification, from Albergrass we always ask for maximum caution of use, since this does not mean that they are non-slip surfaces, but that their resistance to slipping is greater than that of other surfaces.
Quality, safety and design, these are the values that make Albegrass Albegrass the perfect choice for any type of project.
