Have you ever stepped barefoot on a hot surface? It doesn’t feel pleasant, does it? But don’t worry, this won’t happen with our artificial grass.
With the newFeelgood®solution,artificial turf heats up less. A solution that makes this artificial turf heat up less than other turf on very hot days.
Normal artificial turf absorbs heat from the sun’s rays, which can lead to uncomfortable surface temperatures.
Albergrass with Feelgood® refracts sunlight and dissipates heat into the atmosphere instead of absorbing it, resulting in a cooler lawn. The result is a lawn that is more comfortable to walk on during sunny days.
With the Feelgood® solution solution, you will have a lawn 7 to 12 degrees cooler than with other artificial grass.
The refraction of infrared rays:
The sun sends a broad spectrum of light to the earth. Part of that spectrum is absorbed by the atmosphere of our planet; but, even so, the power that reaches the surface can be greater than 1000 W/m2.
The spectrum of this sunlight is shown in the following graph which shows how much radiation is in each color (wavelength).
If the wavelength is greater than 0.7 micrometers, it is above the visible spectrum and is called the “near infrared (NIR)”.
Even though we can’t see it, we feel it as heat.
The full power of the solar spectrum, including NIR, contributes to the heating of artificial turf.
This also occurs in the natural grass, however, this is cooled by the evaporation of water, a circumstance that does not occur in artificial turf because one of its advantages is not watered.
How it works Feelgood®
The heating of the artificial turf is reduced by reflecting the near infrared (NIR), as shown in the following image.

Our products with Feelgood®contain pigments that reflect that part of the spectrum, and as a result, the grass with Feelgood absorbs less light, which results in a lower temperature.

The following image, taken with a special filter that excludes visible light, shows how two types of grass reflect NIR light when illuminated by a special light lamp that simulates sunlight.
The grass on the left (grass with Feelgood®) is much brighter than the grass on the right (normal grass), which means that the grass with Feelgood® is much brighter than the grass on the right (normal grass), which means that the grass with Feelgood® is much brighter. Feelgoodreflects NIR light much better than normal artificial turf.
The following image was taken with an infrared camera, and shows that the temperature of the two grass samples differs considerably.
When the average temperature of these samples is plotted as a function of illumination time in the laboratory we can see that the temperature difference is greater than 10 ºC.
