Your artificial turf is in poor condition, has a damaged or broken piece. In this post we give you the keys to repair artificial turf and restore its original appearance.
Over the years, intensive use, small accidents, your pet’s mischief… can damage or break the artificial turf. Depending on the damage, the repair will be more or less expensive.
Here we explain how to repair artificial turf depending on the breakage or wear of the grass. We advance you that in most cases, it is not necessary to renew the entire surface, it will be enough to replace the deteriorated piece.
Fixing a broken or worn artificial turf patch
If your artificial turf is broken in any area, is sunburned, worn by daily traffic, furniture support, portable pools, … Recovering its original appearance is very simple.
You should only fix the piece that is broken or damaged.
This change is very easy if you saved a piece of artificial turf that was left over from the original installation. If this is not the case, you should look for a new piece that is the same model or as similar as possible to your artificial turf.
Once you have located the synthetic grass blade to replace the damaged piece, it’s time to start repairing your artificial turf.
The first thing to do is to cut off the damaged piece. With that piece in your hand, cut a piece of the same shape and size out of the new grass strip. When you have it, glue it in the space where the old one was. Use a special sealant or glue for artificial turf.
When you glue the new piece you must do it following the same direction as the pile of the artificial turf that was already installed.
As you can see it is very simple. And after the repair no one will notice the breakage.
Re-seal joints to repair turf
Another repair your artificial turf may need is to reseal the joints between the pieces. If they become unglued over time, they need to be reattached so that the strips do not lift or break.
A good maintenance of the artificial turf allows you to quickly discover damages and breakages. Act as quickly as possible to avoid further deterioration that is more difficult to repair.
From Albergrass we advise you to perform a professional maintenance of your artificial turf at least once every two years. This way, the durability and resistance of the synthetic grass will be assured for much longer.
Complete artificial turf repair
In the most extreme cases, where almost all of the artificial turf is in poor condition, the best solution is to remove it completely and reinstall new grass.
